Johnson School houses our public school preschool program. We have 5 preschool classrooms, consisting of a 3 and 4-year-old income-based program, an Early Childhood Special Education classroom, 2 full day 4-year-old preschool programs and 1 half day 4-year-old preschool program. We utilize the Creative Curriculum and project-based learning to ensure we provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences throughout the preschool day for our young students. Teaching Strategies GOLD is our assessment framework to help guide learning to meet the needs of all students. PBIS strategies and the Capturing Kids' Hearts philosophy is utilized to help build the socio-emotional skills students need to be successful in school. A collaborative preschool structure among preschool programs at Johnson, the Spencer Family YMCA, Sacred Heart and Clay County Head Start provides a cohesive, consistent preschool program ensuring all students are school-ready when they start Kindergarten.
